Applications open for Mellon Fellowship
The Mellon Fellowship was established in 1932 by Mr Paul Mellon Hon. KBE (Clare 1929) to promote friendship and understanding between England and the United States, to encourage a mutual expression of interest in the life and thought of both nations, to advance the cause of education by the exchange of ideas of educational methods, and to create a special tie between Cambridge and Yale.
Each year we encourage final-year undergraduates and recent graduates to apply for this Fellowship which covers the cost of accommodation, tuition, university fees and a quarterly living allowance whilst studying at Yale.
It's a great opportunity for students to travel and study abroad at one of the world’s leading universities. Clare has sent one or two students each year to study at Yale for over 90 years.
How to Apply
Those who wish to apply for the fellowship should submit a statement of no more than 500 words to the College Office (tutorial@clare.cam.ac.uk). The statement should give your name and brief details of each of the following:
- reasons for wanting to go to the United States for study
- course of study to be followed at Yale (which needs to be 2 years in the first instance)
- plans for subsequent career or study
You should also ask your Director of Studies (or other appropriate academic referee, such as a supervisor) to provide you with a reference.
The deadline for receipt of all application materials (including references) is midday on 11th October and interviews will take place on the 17th October. Late applications will not be accepted.
