Temporary bridge removed after 3 years

Overnight the main span of the temporary bridge was lifted and placed in the Fellows' Garden ready to be dismantled. Such an engineering feat required closure of the river and a 500t crane.
The removal of this bridge signifies the completion of the second phase of the Old Court project, comprising the construction of a new River Room café for students, improved access to the Hall, refitting of the main College kitchens and the construction of a new three-storey extension in the North Passage incorporating toilet and disabled facilities, a lift and fire escapes. This means all the key spaces in Old Court will be fully accessible for the first time.
