Professor Robertson specialises in European intellectual history c.1600-1800, with particular interests in political thought and in the Enlightenment, notably the Scottish and the Neapolitan Enlightenments. He is currently working on a study of the contribution of sacred history to the understanding of society and of government 1650-1800.
