Secret Histories

Secret Histories is an outreach programme for students in Year 12 (S5 Scotland/Y13 N.I.) considering university study in History, English, Modern Languages, Philosophy, and related fields.

This programme is free of charge and includes eight weeks of online super-curricular workshops followed by an in-person taster day discovering the secrets of the Fellows' Library here at Clare.

This programme has finished for 2023-24. Applications for the 2024-25 programme will open in due course. Register your interest here to be notified when sign-ups open.

Subject Discovery Workshops

Online super-curricular workshops for students in Year 12 (S5 Scotland/Y13 Northern Ireland)

We run several streams of subject workshops through the year. The programme has two streams in spring/summer 2024:

  • Secret Histories, for arts and humanities (leads to the optional in person taster day described above)
  • Medicine & Society, for biological and medical sciences

Residential: Cambridge Future Museum Voices

A week-long residential in Cambridge for students in Year 12 England & Wales, S5 Scotland, and Year 13 Northern Ireland.

STEM SMART

STEM SMART is the University's flagship widening participation initiative for sixth-form students interested in studying Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Sciences (eg physics, chemistry, earth sciences, materials science) or Biological Sciences (eg plant sciences, pharmacology, physiology, evolution and behaviour, biochemistry) at university.

Clare is proud to be one of the colleges that has been involved with the programme since it launched in 2021. For the 2024-25 cohort, Clare will continue to provide undergraduate mentoring, postgraduate supervision, and a summer residential for the most actively engaged students.
