Haruhiko Kuroda delivers 2025 Clare Distinguished Lecture in Economics and Public Policy

Students, Fellows, alumni, economists from across the UK and other invited guests came together earlier this week for the 2025 Clare Distinguished Lecture in Economics and Public Policy, an event made possible by the support of The Smithers & Co Charity.

This year’s Lecturer was Haruhiko Kuroda, Former President of the Asian Development Bank and Former Governor for the Bank of Japan. The discussant was Sir Tim Hitchens KCVO CMG, President of Wolfson College Oxford and former British Ambassador to Tokyo.

In the lecture Mr Kuroda presented four challenges currently faced by the world economy: fragmentation, demographics, Artificial Intelligence and climate change.
