Biography

Dr Kirsty Hughes is a University Associate Professor specialising in Human Rights and Public Law. She is Deputy Director of the Centre for Public Law and a member of Blackstone Chambers Academic Panel.

She lectures and supervises students in Human Rights Law, Public Law, Law and Information and Constitutional Law.

Dr Hughes is particularly interested in human rights law and theory, the human rights of migrants, privacy, protest and hate speech. Her research has been published in leading books and journals and has been cited in the Court of Appeal and parliamentary reports. She has also given evidence to the House of Lords and is regularly asked to give media interviews.

She is the convenor of the Cambridge Human Rights mooting team, the Cambridge Human Rights Film Series and the Law and Race reading group.
